Pope Francis said it best: “Knowing Jesus is the best gift that anyone can ever receive. That we have encountered Him is the best thing that has happened in our lives. And making Him known by our deeds and words is our greatest joy.” That’s what we’re all about at St. Marys.
We exist to offer every person in our community a life-changing encounter with Jesus Christ. In this way we can grow as His intentional and missionary disciples so that we can go out to love and serve those around us, especially the most vulnerable among us.

St. Mary of the Assumption is the Mother Church of Elizabeth and Union County. Since its founding in 1844, St. Mary of the Assumption, has served the Catholics of Elizabeth City as a spiritual and pastoral center.
